Pietro Buffolo

Half Italian and half German, Pietro Buffolo lives in Cremona, the city he chose as the ideal place to dedicate himself to the art of violin making. His training began in Hamburg, where he studied music therapy and explored the power of sound as a tool for healing and inner expression. This experience led him to develop a special sensitivity towards music and its human value, encouraging him to seek a more direct connection with the material and with the tradition of string instruments.

Drawn by Cremona’s rich cultural and artisanal heritage, Pietro decided to immerse himself in the study of violin making, engaging with the classical Cremonese school while remaining open to new influences and perspectives. His vision combines respect for tradition with a desire to experiment, aiming to unite technical precision with personal expressiveness.

At the same time, he has undertaken the study of the viola da gamba at the conservatory, an instrument that further enriches his musical sensitivity and fosters a direct dialogue with the early repertoire, a constant source of inspiration for his work as a luthier.

For him, violin making is not merely a craft but an act of beauty: a path in which every detail, from the choice of wood to the final finish, is directed toward giving voice to resonance and emotion.
