Gabriele Rossi
Raised in the province of Piacenza, Gabriele Rossi approached violin making after a period of studying physics at the University of Milan. Always interested in both music and craftsmanship, he decided to combine these passions by enrolling in 2015 at the International Violin Making School of Cremona, where he studied under Giorgio and Daniele Scolari and Massimo Negroni.
During his school years, he focused on instrument making, developing an interest in Baroque instruments and also building some plucked instruments. After graduating in 2019, he worked for a period in several workshops in Cremona before dedicating himself to building his own instruments in a shared workshop with former classmates, where he also had the opportunity to experiment and deepen his knowledge of various aspects of varnishing.
In 2023, he began working in a workshop in Düsseldorf, Germany. This experience is allowing him to explore aspects of violin making that he had not practiced in Cremona, particularly in the field of restoration and maintenance. The opportunity to closely observe a wide range of instruments from the most renowned violin-making traditions is also giving him the chance to broaden his technical and historical knowledge..
